‘Did someone say snow day;’ Mad River Local Schools get creative to announce classes canceled

RIVERSIDE — Several school districts canceled classes today due to the snow.

A Montgomery County school got creative to announce that classes were canceled.

Mad River Local Schools posted a video on social media. It shows superintendent Chad Wyen outside with a ruler measuring snow.

“Boys and girls, it needs to be up here, it’s down here,” he said. It showed the ruler the snow accumulations did not reach the top of the ruler.

But Miss Guillman a teacher a Virginia Elementary School came to the rescue.

“Forget about your snow meter!” she said as she tossed the ruler aside. “You get a snow day, January 6. Enjoy the day! Happy New Year!”

Mad River Locals is one of several schools that will be closed today.

“Did someone say ‘Snow Day’??? MRLS will be closed on Monday, January 6, 2025,” the school district wrote on Facebook.
