Dog rescued from sweltering vehicle in Xenia

XENIA — A small dog was rescued from over 100 degree temperatures after being locked in a vehicle with the windows closed Thursday morning in Xenia.

Officers responded to the 100 block of West Main Street around 11 a.m. after someone called 911.

“The windows are rolled up and there’s a small dog,” the caller said.  “It’s parked in front of the new Xenia administrative offices.”

Once officers arrived they found the dog and were able to get it to safety.

“The temperature in this vehicle is 105,” an officer told dispatchers over emergency dispatch radio traffic.

The owner received a warning and the investigation is ongoing.
