H&R Block customers are confused after the IRS launched its “Where’s My Payment” tool Monday. The tool has many wondering where their second stimulus check is.
Some customers reported seeing account numbers that didn’t match their personal checking account when using the IRS’s tool.
“The IRS Get My Payment website may display an account number you don’t recognize. If you took a Refund Transfer, it may be reflecting that account number. Check your 2019 return to confirm,” H&R Block said in a tweet. “But don’t worry – we have sent these payments on to the method you chose for Refund Transfer: direct deposit, check, or Emerald Card.”

If you are wondering what you have to do to get your check, you do not have to take any action to get the second payment, the IRS said.
“Payments are automatic for eligible taxpayers who filed a 2019 tax return, those who receive Social Security retirement, survivor or disability benefits (SSDI), Railroad Retirement benefits as well as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Veterans Affairs beneficiaries who didn’t file a tax return,” according to the IRS.
Those eligible will receive a payment of up to $600 for singles and up to $1,200 for married couples, plus $600 for each qualifying child under age 17 in the household.
Generally, if you have adjusted gross income for 2019 up to $75,000 for individuals, up to $112,500 for head of household filers, and up to $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns, you will receive the full second payment amount.
For filers with income above those amounts, the payment is reduced.
For those who now have a different bank account than what’s shown on their 2019 tax returns, the IRS comments.
“If the second Economic Impact Payment was sent to an account that is closed or is no longer active the financial institution must, by law, return the payment to the IRS, they cannot hold and issue the payment to an individual when the account is no longer active.”
They go on to say, “if they don’t receive the full Economic Impact Payment they should file their 2020 tax return electronically and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their tax return to get their payment and any refund as quickly as possible.”
