“The defendant drove through the barricades put in place to stop vehicular traffic and drove through a crowd of several hundred pedestrians on the roadway at a high rate of speed,” police said in court records.

Butts is accused of first driving through the barricades near the Applebee’s by Delco Park, before driving north on Delco Park Drive and driving through two other barricades in the park around 10 p.m., when the fireworks show was set to start, police said.

“Officers on police issued bicycles attempted to stop the defendant from driving, however, the defendant nearly struck the bike officers,” court records read.

Police said he kept driving until he was eventually arrested in the area of the BMX section of Delco Park, investigators said.

Police said there were no injuries reported during the incident.

Butts was no longer in jail Thursday morning, according to online records.
