Driver hits, hospitalizes person in Harrison Twp.; Deputies investigate

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A person was hit by a car in Harrison Township Tuesday morning.

The Harrison Township substation of Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection of Salem Avenue and Klepinger Road at around 6:23 a.m. on reports of a pedestrian strike, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said.

When deputies arrived on scene, they confirmed that a person was hit by a vehicle, the spokesperson continued.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2002 silver GMC Envoy, traveling southeast on Salem Avenue in the right curb lane about 100 feet south of Klepinger Road, hit the pedestrian as the person was stepping off the sidewalk and into the roadway, according to the spokesperson.

The victim suffered injuries and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital for further care. Their condition is currently unknown.

It is also unknown if anyone was placed in custody or arrested for this incident.

The Traffic Services Unit of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office led the ongoing investigation.
