An 18-year-old St. Marys, Ohio, woman was killed Monday when an SUV hit her sedan broadside after she apparently failed to stop at a stop sign at U.S. 33 and south Kettlersville Road, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a statement released tonight.
Heaven Leigh Bolinger died at the scene, according to the statement from the Wapakoneta post. She was taken to Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
Charles Estle, 24, of Mendon, Ohio, was driving the Nissan SUV that struck the driver's side of Bolinger's Oldsmobile 4-door. He was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises, then released, a patrol sergeant said.
Both people were wearing their seatbelts, according to the patrol, and alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the accident in western Auglaize County that occurred about 3:05 p.m.
The collision sent Bolinger's vehicle into the median. Members of the Buckland Fire Department extricated her from the wreckage.
Estle's vehicle ended up on the westbound berm of U.S. 33.
