Driver who overturns car in high water identified, listed in critical condition

UPDATE @ 7:45 p.m. (Feb. 9):

The driver of a vehicle that overturned in high water Thursday night has been identified as Kazuhiro Sagara, 47, of Troy.

Sagara lost control of his SUV, hydroplaned, flipped his car and landed upside down in a flooded ditch on Ohio 202 at Ebberts Road.

He is currently listed in critical condition in the ICU at Miami Valley Hospital, according to a spokesperson.

FIRST REPORT:

The driver of a vehicle that overturned in high water tonight north of Tipp City reportedly is in critical condition, Miami County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Steve Lord said.

The accident was reported just before 8 p.m. on Ohio 202 at Ebberts Road, in Staunton Twp., and was initially dispatched as a possible fatal vehicle accident by drowning.

Lord said the driver was taken to the Upper Valley Medical Center, then to Miami Valley Hospital.

Ohio 202 remains closed at Ohio 571 (East Main Street) because of high water. Several roads in the area of 202 are closed because of high water, according to sheriff's dispatch.
