WARREN COUNTY — Money spilled onto I-71 in Warren County Tuesday afternoon causing a chaotic scene as some drivers pulled over and began grabbing bills off the roadway.
Around 3:45 p.m. Crews were called to reports of money flying on the roadway near I-71 at SR-48, according to dispatchers with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
Ohio State Highway Patrol was called to assist as drivers were stopping traffic to grab some of the cash.

It is not known how the money got onto the highway, but Warren County dispatchers said they received reports of a backpack full of cash being thrown from a vehicle.
It is not known if the money was real or counterfeit, but a sergeant with the sheriff’s office said they have not received reports of nearby companies missing money. C
Video from Ohio Department of Transportation traffic cameras during the incident show officers and several drivers, some with plastic grocery bags, attempting to scoop up the cash.
The roadway was temporarily closed as crews worked to clean up the roadway.
