Jaia C. Marshall died at Dayton Children’s Medical Center South after she was pulled from the hotel pool, Harshbarger said in a media release.

The girl was at the hotel for a birthday party, and her stay was not related to the tornadoes that touched down last week, Miamisburg police said.

Emergency crews dispatched to the hotel at 417 North Springboro Pike around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on reports of a child who was pulled from a pool and was not breathing.

No charges are expected to be filed. At least two adults were in the pool area at the time, police said.

Initial reports indicated the incident occurred at a nearby apartment complex but was later updated to the hotel, according to dispatch records.

Additional details were not immediately available. The incident remains under investigation by Miamisburg police.
