MIAMI VALLEY — Early voting in Ohio began on Oct. 6 and boards of elections across the Miami Valley use a variety of ballot casting methods to ensure your vote this election is counted.

Early voting hours and dates are set by the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office.
EARLY VOTING HOURS:
- Oct. 6-Oct. 9: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Oct. 12-Oct. 16: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Oct. 19-Oct. 23: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Oct. 24: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Oct. 25: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Oct. 26-Oct. 30: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Oct. 31: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Nov. 1: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Nov. 2: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In the Miami Valley this is how you can plan to cast your ballot if you plan to vote early:
- Optical scan paper ballots, which are a pre-printed paper ballots that are handmarked by the voter and scanned in tabulator, are used in the following counties: Auglaize, Shelby, Logan, Miami, Clark, Champaign, Warren, Clinton and Preble counties.
- Hybrid ballots, which are ballots that are cast on a touchscreen by the voter, printed and then scanned by a tabulator, are used in the following counties: Montgomery, Darke and Mercer counties.
- Electronic ballots, which are cast using a direct recording electronic machine with voter-verified paper audit trail, are used in the following counties: Greene and Butler counties.
