DAYTON — Easter Sunday is just days away, and the National Retail Federation estimates Americans are spending more on celebrating this year than ever before.
News Center 7′s Xavier Hershovitz reports it is about more than just chocolate bunnies and easter egg hunts.

Esther Price Candies is ready for a busy Easter holiday and are not the only place. Americans are expected to do a record number of spending this Easter.
“Just a couple boxes of candy,” Carl Long said when asked what he picked up today.
Long picked up some treats for his significant other and his daughter. It is a tradition for his family, and he is not alone.

Sherri Kearney came from North Carolina and picked up a big box for her mom.
“We’re excited about it. I mean, this one of our major holidays each year,” President/CEO of Esther Price Candies, Doug Dressman, said.
For Esther Price, this is their second biggest time of the year, only after Christmas.
“You know they come generation after generation and they can remember when they were young and their father or grandfather taking them to Esther price candies,” Dressman said.

According to the National Retail Federation, Americans are expected to spend a record 24 billion dollars on Easter. Most of that money will be spent on food, clothes, candy, and gifts for different Easter celebrations.
Esther Price estimates they will sell over 10,000 filled eggs and more than 30,000 solid bunnies.
Trish Donaldson says it is about more than just the stuff.

“We spent a little bit more in quality candy this year - but doing more experiences,” Donaldson said.
Her family’s focus is on spending more time together.
If you still have a couple of last-minute things you need to pick up this Easter weekend, Easter Price suggests you stop by early.
