Kentucky Flooding: How you can help

Bill’s Donut Shop in Centerville: The business is continuing to accept donations until Aug. 12.

Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund: Gov. Andy Beshear has established the Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund to assist those affected by the floods and the severe weather system beginning July 26, 2022. All donations to the relief fund are tax-deductible and donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes after donating.

First Southern Baptist Church, Camden: You can bring personal items to a semitrailer in the parking lot at First Southern Baptist Church. The semitrailer, to be loaded also with water and cleaning supplies, is the idea of Theresa and John Baker. The Bakers, who have family in eastern Kentucky, are partnering with the church, which is receiving great support from the Camden community, Senior Pastor Greg Jackson said.

American Red Cross: You can help people affected by disasters such as floods, wildfires and countless other crises by making a gift to Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small. Visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS, or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Volunteers from the central and southern Ohio region are in the process of traveling to the flooded areas of eastern Kentucky to help with disaster response, Marita Salkowski, Red Cross regional communicators director, said.

One of our Emergency Response Vehicles will be activated through the Columbus office later Friday. A volunteer from Dayton and another volunteer from Cincinnati will be driving a Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle to Kentucky.

A second Red Cross vehicle will be leaving from Cincinnati on Friday afternoon, Salkowski said.

Matthew 25: Ministries: The humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization headquartered in Blue Ash, Ohio, (north of Cincinnati) is requesting donations of the following types of items to supplement existing supplies, for restocking during their response and for future disasters:

Donate money online or mail checks to Matthew 25: Ministries, 11060 Kenwood Road, Blue Ash, OH 45242 (100% of donated funds designated for Eastern Kentucky flooding will be used for the purpose intended).

The following product donations will be accepted at our facility in Blue Ash:

◊ Cases of bottled water (12- and 24- count)

◊ Personal care products such as antibacterial soap, hand sanitizer, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, lotion, etc.

◊ Laundry detergents, general cleaner, sponges, bleach (powdered is preferred), mops, scrub brushes, buckets, rubber gloves, etc.

◊ Toilet paper, paper towels, etc.

◊ Diapers, wipes, diaper rash ointment, baby wash, baby shampoo, baby lotion, etc.

◊ Bandages, gauze, pads, first aid tape, antiseptic creams, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, latex gloves, instant cold packs, etc.

◊ Power tools, fans, generators, etc. (new and in original packaging)
