EATON — The Eaton Police Department is warning the public of a phone scam that is targeting senior citizens in the area.
The scammer is claiming to be from “Publisher’s Clearinghouse” and is contacting people and telling them that they won a sweepstakes.

The scammer then asks the caller to pay a “fee” of gift cards or phones in able for them to receive the prize.
This is a scam, EPD said.
Residents are advised to not give anyone any personal information over the phone.
