SPRINGFIELD — Firefighters rescued an elderly woman from a house fire in Springfield Friday.
Around 4 p.m. Springfield firefighters were called to the 1000 block of South Center Street to reports of a house fire, according to Springfield Fire Division.
When crews arrived on scene they saw heavy smoke coming from the second-floor windows and were notified of an elderly resident who had not left the house yet.

A crew searching the home was able to find the woman and get her out of the house within four minutes of arriving on the scene, according to SFD.
Firefighters were able to find the fire in the kitchen and put it under control within eight minutes.
The woman was treated at the scene for her injuries, SFD said.
The cause of the fire was said to be an electrical malfunction with the microwave.
