Dayton fire crews were first called out to a home in the 4300 block of Owens Drive, near North Gettysburg Avenue, around 9:45 a.m. on reports from one home of a fire inside. While firefighters were responding to the first report, homeowners across the street of the first home also reported a fire inside, Dayton Fire District Chief Christopher Kinzeler told News Center 7.
While crews were on scene, three additional homes on the same block reported fires, Kinzeler said. Our crew on the scene observed firefighters were going door-to-door checking other homes on the block for potential issues.
Firefighters determined the fires were all electrical in nature however the cause of the electrical issues was still under investigation.
All fires are under control and the homes are structurally sound, Kinzeler said. No injuries were reported.
Previously, an AES Ohio spokesperson said they were asked by the Dayton Fire Department to turn off or redirect power in the area.
