DAYTON — UPDATE @ 5:11 a.m.:

A man is in the hospital after fleeing a traffic stop and crashing into an apartment building, according to Dayton Police Sgt. Danielle Cash.

Cash said that the driver was originally stopped by University of Dayton police, but fled. Police did not initially pursue the vehicle, but were flagged down by a citizen who directed them after it.

Police found that the driver had crashed, and believed that he may have been responsible for another collision with a fire hydrant further down Wilmington Avenue.
