Officials have contained the gas leak in Miami Township and will be opening Ohio 725 shortly according to Miami Valley Fire District officials.

Ohio 725 near the Dayton Mall is expected to be shut down for “a while” after a work crew struck a natural gas line in Miami Twp., according to a Miami Valley Fire District official.
Officials did not have an estimated time the roadway would reopen.

There have been no reports of evacuations in the surrounding area after the gas leak was first reported around 10 a.m.
The gas leak near the mall is the second leak reported Monday, both caused by work crews striking lines. In Moraine, parts of the Cobblegate Square Apartments were evacuated after the work crew there hit a gas line.

Residents of the Cobblegate Square Apartments in Moraine, evacuated after a work crew struck a natural gas line, have been allowed to return to their apartments. Additional details have not been released.
FIRST REPORT
Two different work crews about three miles apart have struck natural gas lines causing gas leaks.
Fire crews first responded near the intersection of West Alex Bell and Lamme roads in Moraine around 9:30 a.m. after a work crew struck a gas line, according to initial reports.
According to officials at the scene, several nearby apartments were evacuated for precautionary reasons.
Around 10 a.m., a different work crew, working near the intersection of Miamisburg Centerville Road Graceland Street in Miami Twp., also struck a gas line.
Dispatchers said Miamisburg Centerville Road will be blocked in both directions until the gas leak can be contained.
There have been no initial reports of injuries in either incident.
