HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A man who died in a motorcycle crash over the holiday weekend is being hailed as a “pillar of the community.”

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, Shawn Norman and his passenger, Clarence Weatherby, died Saturday night when their Polaris Slingshot hit an SUV on North Main Street.
Norman’s friends said he was loved at his workplace and for all the work he did to try to help his community, like his work on a monthly food distribution sponsored by the NAACP.
“Always involved in that, he would just come and jump in where he fit in,” said Eric Ellington.
Eric and his brother Deric have known Norman for two decades. they said the 58-year-old Norman’s giving spirit made him popular with everyone.

“Everybody loved him, everyone that came around, with that smile he had, everyone loved him and enjoyed him,” Ellington said.
That’s why the news of this fatal wreck was such a shock.
The Ellington’s said Weatherby was Norman’s brother-in-law.
“Lost a pillar, yep,” Eric said.
“I was devastated when like, three people called me and I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Deric Ellington said.
Deric said Norman worked at a White Allen facility on Springboro Pike. He said his co-workers loved him and that Norman loved cars and motorcycles.
They insist Norman never rode recklessly and beg drivers to watch closer for bikers.
“There’s just too many people speeding, running red lights, as a biker you really have to look out,” Deric said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
