Cuyahoga County prosecutors said McDonald tried to make a traffic stop on a 42-year-old man on March 12, 2023. A chase began and the victim crashed his vehicle into a bus stop.
Prosecutors said McDonald saw the crash but left the scene.
WOIO reported that McDonald, 47, resigned from the department in May 2023, a day after the department’s internal investigation concluded.
McDonald will be sentenced at a later date.
