Family Video has announced that all of its stores will be closing.

In a release sent out Tuesday, the President of Family Video, Keith Hoogland, claimed that the impact of COVID-19 was to blame.

“Today, I have to make the difficult announcement that we are closing all Family Video locations,” Hoogland said in a post on the company’s website.

Hoogland went on to say, “The impact of COVID-19, not only in foot traffic but also in the lack of movie releases, pushed us to the end of an era.”

The store’s website says the last day for movie rentals is January 6.

Each of the stores will close once all of their items have sold.
