HARRISON TWP. — The father of a 2-year-old who investigators said was fatally shot by his 13-year-old brother will face criminal charges, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Jamahl Evans, 34, was indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury Wednesday on charges of involuntary manslaughter, endangering children, 10 counts of having weapons under disability, possession of marijuana, and a drug paraphernalia charge, according to a grand jury report.

Evans is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges June 26, records indicate.

Evans’ 13-year-old son is accused of playing with a loaded gun June 4 when the gun discharged, striking and killing 2-year-old J’veontae Johnston.
The teen is also facing charges of reckless homicide in Montgomery County Juvenile Court.
