Fire causes significant damage to Preble County house

PREBLE COUNTY — UPDATE @ 2:05 p.m.:

A house is uninhabitable after sustaining significant damage during a fire Friday afternoon.

A passerby noticed the fire and reported it.

No one was home when the fire broke out.

INITIAL REPORT:

A house west of Eaton sustained significant damage after a fire broke out Friday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the house in the 6900 block of Ohio 122, near Dove Road around 12:30 p.m.

First crews on the scene reported heavy smoke was pouring from the second floor of the house, according to emergency scanner traffic.

There have been no immediate reports of injuries.
