Vernon King, 59, was identified as the victim of the fire. Firefighters said he was transported to Wilson Health where he was pronounced dead. King lived at the residence.

The fire was reported around 1:10 p.m. at the intersection of Park Street and Second Avenue. A Sidney police officer on scene reported the structure was fully engulfed in smoke and flames when they arrived on scene, police scanner traffic indicates.

Firefighters found two people were trapped inside the house by the flames and were able to rescue them from the burning structure, Sidney Fire Chief Chad Hollinger said.

The other was transported from Wilson Health to a Dayton area hospital, firefighters said. In a release, firefighters said the occupant escaped by jumping from a second-story window to a bystander below.

Firefighters said the loss of the residence and its contents is $90,000.
