One person killed in Mechanicsburg fire

MECHANICSBURG — UPDATE @ 2:23 p.m.:

One person has died in a fire that took place in the 8500 block of state Route 161 this morning.

INITIAL REPORT:

Fire officials are investigating a house fire in the 8500 block of state Route 161 in Mechanicsburg, where initial reports said that a person might be trapped inside.

Multiple crews from surrounding fire departments responded to the scene, including Mechanicsburg, Urbana, Union Township, North Lewisburg, Pleasant Township, Pleasant Valley, Allen Township and West Liberty.

Fire crews on scene declined to comment on the fire, but said that they were handing the investigation of the fire over to state fire marshals.
