Fire crews looking for cause of Dayton car fire

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 6:42 a.m.

There were no injuries in the early-morning vehicle fire on Northwood Avenue, although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Battalion Chief Michael Crist of the Harrison Township Fire Department.

He said when fire crews arrived they found a small passenger car on fire. The owner of the vehicle was inside the apartment building, and nobody was in the vehicle.

Crist also added that the forensics team was typically dispatched to help with their investigation.

UPDATE @ 5:57 a.m.:

Our crew on the scene has reported that he can’t see any more flames from the heavily burned car, but it was still smoking.

He also reported that a forensics team is present at the fire.

Firefighters are on the scene of a reported vehicle fire in the 200 block of Northwood Avenue.

Our crew on the scene reported that there is a lot of smoke in the area.

Scanner traffic indicated that there was a fully-involved vehicle fire behind an apartment building.
