A fire destroyed a church in Darke County Saturday morning.

Crews were called to the Shiloh Old German Baptist Brethren Church on Delisle Fourman Road around 6:30 a.m.

Tracy Mong, Pitsburg Fire Chief, told News Center 7 that the fire was initially a two-alarm fire but was later upgraded to a four-alarm fire.

When crews arrived to the scene there were heavy flames “shooting out of the back” of the church, Mong said. As firefighters were preparing to enter the building, the roof collapsed on the west side.

The church, which was a little less than two years old, was deemed a total loss.

No injuries were reported.
