HARRISON TWP. — Several fire departments were called to battle a fire that destroyed a mobile home, neighboring vehicles, and damaged a nearby house in Harrison Twp. Monday morning.

Crews were called on reports of a mobile home fire on Birch Drive, near Rip Rap Road, around 8 a.m. Monday. Firefighters found heavy flames and smoke were coming from the mobile home and the fire had spread to two nearby vehicles and a house.
All occupants were able to escape the fire and no injuries were reported.
Damage to the mobile home and the two other vehicles were significant and all were declared total losses. However, damage to the nearby house was only on the outside of the structure and the occupants will be able to stay in the house.
“Due to the significant amount of heat that came off the mobile home, it damaged the house itself. But they’re still able to actually stay here,” Harrison Twp. Battalion Chief Mike Crist told News Center 7.
The fire presented additional challenges for firefighters because the road was very narrow and there were no fire hydrants nearby.
“On this street where we are, we have no water sources and its a small lane. There’s only enough room for one vehicle to come in. We brought in a significant amount of mutual aid companies to come in and help supply us water,” Crist said.
In addition to the Harrison Twp. crews, firefighters from Tipp City, Butler Twp. Vandalia, Huber Heights, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base all were called to help supply water to battle the blaze.
The cause of the fire is unknown and still under investigation.
