GERMAN TOWNSHIP — Fire officials are investigating the “suspicious” circumstances that caused a home to go up in flames a second time in Clark County.

German Township firefighters were called to the 5000 block of Snyder Domer Road for reports of a house fire around 2:20 p.m.
An initial investigation revealed that the fire started with a dehumidifier in the basement of the home that extended into the kitchen and other areas, according to German Township Fire Chief Tim Holman.

Holman said firefighters went over the fire “meticulously” and made sure there were no signs of smoke or flames before leaving the scene.
Shortly after leaving the scene, around 7 p.m., firefighters were called back to the home after reports of flames showing.
Holman said it is incredibly unlikely enough heat could have been regenerated to cause a rekindle.
This led Holman to believe the second fire at the home was suspicious.
The home was a total loss after the second fire, Holman said.
The family who lived in the home cannot return and is currently staying with relatives.
