GREENVILLE — A firefighter experienced a medical emergency while responding to a house fire in Greenville on Sunday morning.

News Center 7 previously reported that a mutual aid firefighter had been injured and taken to Wayne Healthcare while responding to a house fire in the 500 block of Washington Avenue.

On Monday the Greenville Fire Department clarified that the firefighter was not injured but rather experienced a medical emergency and was treated on scene.
The firefighter was then transported to Wayne Healthcare where they received additional treatment before being released.
It is unclear which department the firefighter was from.
Greenville Fire Department was assisted by crews from Greenville Township, Gettysburg, New Madison, Arcanum, Liberty Township, Versailles, and Tri-Village Rescue.
The damage to the property including contents is estimated to cost $75,000.
The occupants of the home were able to evacuate the house before firefighters arrived, according to a Facebook post from the Greenville Fire Department.
