No one was in the home at the time of the fire, Bethel Township Fire Chief Andy Ehrhart told News Center 7 Thursday morning.
Jim and Sharon Jones were both sleep when it started.
“Everything was lit up, fire trucks everywhere. It must’ve been 15-20 fire trucks and three sheriff’s cruisers,” Jim said.
Mutual aid was provided by fire departments in Butler Township, Bethel Township in Clark County, New Carlisle, Tipp City, Casstown, and Christiansburg.
“It was very important for us to get the tankers there, we rely heavily on our surrounding departments. We have a tanker that carries three thousand gallons of water. That doesn’t last long when it puts out a thousand gallons per minute,” Ehrhart said.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fire and it is considered to be suspicious at this time, Ehrhart said.
