MIAMI TOWNSHIP — A person is hospitalized, and some apartment units are damaged after an early morning fire in Miami Township on Monday.

Miami Valley District firefighters and Miami Township police officers were dispatched at 5:40 a.m. to the 2900 block of Austin Springs Boulevard on initial reports of an apartment fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found a fire inside a second-floor apartment, Assistant Fire Chief Brandon Barnett told News Center 7.
Neighbors were alerted by a fire alarm and got out.
Medics transported one person to the hospital with smoke inhalation, according to Barnett.
Some adjacent apartments were damaged by smoke.
The apartment where the fire started is not livable, Barnett stated.
Some other apartments below suffered water damage.
