JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — Firefighters responded to a house fire in Montgomery County Thursday morning.

Crews were called to the 100 block of Colgate Ave in Jefferson Township on reports of a house fire just after 7 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire in the rear of the house, according to Dayton Fire Department District Chief Andrew Wiley.
The fire caused severe damage to the rear of the house, but Wiley told News Center 7 crews on the scene he believed the house was salvageable.
The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Crews from Jefferson Township, Dayton, Trotwood, Moraine, and West Carrollton responded to assist.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
