Firefighters respond to multiple fires within hours of each other in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — Monday morning was a busy time for Springfield firefighters.

Firefighters responded to several fires in the southeast area of the city within hours of each other, Springfield Division of Fire posted on social media.

Fire crews were first called to a fire just before 5 a.m. in the 600 block of Linden Avenue where three outdoor storage sheds burned to the ground.

An hour and a half later firefighters were called a short distance away to a car fire in the 300 block of Selma Road.

Around 7:15 a.m. firefighters responded to a house fire on East Grand Street. The house was determined a total loss, according to firefighters.

Around 8:50 a.m. another house fire was called to the 700 block of Tibbetts Avenue, this house was also determined to be a total loss.

Both houses were demolished later that day, firefighters said.

No firefighters were hurt during any of these fires.

The cause of them continues to be under investigation.
