An apartment complex severely damaged during the Memorial Day tornadoes caught fire over the weekend.
The apartment complex in the 5900 block of Culzean Drive in Trotwood is now vacant.
The fire broke out around 4:20 p.m. Saturday, and rekindled Sunday morning.
According to Fire Marshal Jeffrey Hiovers, when fire crews arrived on scene Saturday, the second and third floors of the building were already fully engulfed in flame.
The firefighters began a defensive attack, he said, which meant they didn’t enter the building because it was unstable and dangerous.

Since the complex caught fire multiple times, many people are left with suspicion as to why it started.
News Center 7’s Ronnell Hunt spoke with a resident of that community who thinks someone started the fire.
“I find something seems to be very unusual to me about the fire when it’s supposed to be cleaned out,” Irma Williams said.
Hiovers said that fires in abandoned buildings like this are unusual, and that investigators are still looking for the cause of the blaze.
