A Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Sergeant confirmed that there was fire reported on the second floor.
The residence is believed to be vacant and is boarded up.
The residence is located across the street from Kettering Health Dayton also known as Grandview Hospital.
Crews on scene told News Center 7 that squatters were outside the house when they arrived.
It is unclear if anyone was inside when the fire started or if anyone was injured.
Firefighters were unable to reach the second floor, so they waited till the flames had reached through the roof to be able to attack the fire from a better vantage point, according to crews on scene.
This is a developing story.
