A house undergoing construction work suffered damage in a fire late Tuesday night.

Fire investigators have been called in to establish the cause of the fire that burned through the roof of the house on South Third Street in Miamisburg, said Battalion Chief Glenn Jirka, Miami Valley Fire District.

"Hopefully, it's a savable structure and they can rehab it and put it to good use in our community," he said. "The report to us is that the house recently sold and some folks were working on it to make it habitable."

Miami Valley Fire District crews, with assistance from West Carrollton and Moraine, arrived around 10:30 p.m. to find flames coming through the roof line, Chief Jirka said.

Crews went inside to knock down the fire. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians, he said.

It's too soon to attach a dollar estimate to the damage because investigators have to get inside to evaluate the house, he said, but he noted there was "nothing that we saw that would lead us to believe there was anything suspicious going on."
