Flood advisory issued for several counties until this evening

Flood Advisory has been issued for multiple counties in the Miami Valley. Preble, Montgomery and Darke counties are under the advisory until 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Rounds of widespread rain and embedded thunderstorms will be possible, producing the threat for flash flooding.

DETAILED FORECAST

Overnight: Rain likely, heavy at times, through the night. As of 6 p.m. Saturday, rain totals ranged between 2 to 4 inches in most spots with some isolated higher amount. By morning an additional 1 to 3 inches, possibly more is expected. Winds will also increase into the night, sustained between 10-20 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. A few embedded storms will enhance the rain and may also increase the winds a bit. Lows tonight expected in the upper 50s.

Sunday: Heavy rain likely in the morning with flooding in a concern in many locations. Areas along creeks and streams will see the water coming up above the banks. Larger rivers will begin to swell but not crest until Monday.

Low-lying and poorly drained streets may have standing or perhaps flowing water. Storm totals will range between 3 to 6 inches. Heavy rain will taper to scattered showers and linger through the day. A few isolated storms allowing for some pockets of heavy rain are still possible into the afternoon.

Temperatures for the day will struggle to rise. Highs around the lower to middle 60s. Still breezy with winds between 10-20 mph early then decreasing into the afternoon and evening.

Monday: Clouds linger to start the week with some areas of light drizzle or mist. May see a few breaks in the clouds later in the day. Temperatures on Monday will rise into the upper 60s. While not as wet, major rivers will still be swollen and reaching their crest stages in most locations.

Tuesday: Partly sunny and pleasant on Tuesday with highs in the middle 70s.

Wednesday: Another pleasant day with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s.

Thursday: Partly sunny skies for Thursday. Slight chance of a passing shower. Warmer with highs in the lower 80s.
