Flooding, heavy rain causes storm drains to overload

DAYTON — The heavy rain caused flooding across the area Friday and some storm drains overloaded with water.

Video from News Center 7 crews shows the intersection of Pritz Avenue and Xenia Avenue near Steve Whalen Boulevard in Dayton covered with water Friday evening.

Traffic was moving through the intersection as water gushed through a pair of storm drains.

There was one intersection in Dayton closed due to high water Friday afternoon, Montgomery County Regional dispatchers told News Center 7.

It has reopened.

Several roads across the area were closed due to high water on Friday.

This includes the following:

  • State Route 725 at Lower Bellbrook Road in Sugarcreek Township
  • Johnson Station Road at Little York Road is closed, Vandalia dispatch told News Center 7
  • Stonequarry Road in front of the Vandalia Rec Center near Peters Pike is also closed due to high water.
