Former local football player helps launch mobile salon

WAYNESVILLE — A former Centerville football player is helping to launch a brand new mobile salon company.

Jared Weyler and Morgan Harville began this venture after a road trip in late 2020.

“We were just driving down the road and I just pitched, did you guys know I have a dream,” Harville said. “Just told him. A mobile hair salon that’s meant for weddings, homecomings, birthday parties, not so much cuts and colors.”

Weyler continued ask questions and it seemed to pique his interest. He was an offensive lineman at Centerville and Minnesota and is use to doing work with his hands.

“I like being a part of things that build things if that makes sense,” Weyler said. “Being a part of different programs. At my work we’re kind of building our firm. This we built from the ground up. I played football at the University of Minnesota, we built that program up to what it is now.”

However a 6′4″ burly lineman and a hair salon is a match that catches many off guard, including Weyler’s friend and now business partner.

“I’m looking over at Jonathan, my fiancé and I’m like his he being serious or is he just trying to talk,” Harville said. “And that night we came up with Hitched. We came up with the name and we started looking at airstreams.”

“I’d text a few of my buddies at Minnesota and they’d be like what are you doing and then I’d text them the pictures and they’d be like oh that’s really really cool,” Weyler said.

It was Morgan’s dream that Jared helped make a reality. She said it was idea born out of her extensive history of being in wedding parties.

“We’ve had to go to gross hotels to get ready because the venue maybe doesn’t have a big enough bridal suite for 9 bridesmaids and so we’re getting ready and the photographer’s there and these brides have spent so much money on a photographer to get these “get ready” pictures and they never turn out good.”

While admittedly Weyler isn’t much for marketing or being the front man of a business like this, he wanted to do this for more than just Morgan.

“I hope it’ll create a lot of really cool experiences for people it’s kind of one thing that wanted me to get into is the experience portion and letting people relive those experiences the rest of their life.”

Jared is currently a certified public accountant but he’s been working from home since the initial shutdown from the pandemic and has been working on renovating the Airstream trailer for the mobile salon.

“In the time of COVID and different things in society where they’re telling us all to be apart the community kind of helped us out, helped us bring this thing to life.”

Weyler bought a nearly 50 year old Airstream trailer from Missouri off of Facebook without being able to get a closer look. He said it was in very rough shape and had simply been sitting in a field for an extended period of time. The trailer doesn’t look anything like it did when they bought it in October.

“Honestly when I first got it I was like what did I just get into,” Weyler said.

“I still can’t believe it but we’re super excited,” Harville said. “This whole thing it’s better than what I envisioned.”

The business is designed to cater mainly to wedding parties, high school dance groups, birthday parties and beyond. The idea is to have chairs to work on hair or nails while everyone else can still sit nearby inside to have fun as they get ready for the event. They even have chairs that are set up outside if anyone wants to get some fresh air.

The business partners recently unveiled the Airstream and expect bookings to start ramping up in September once Homecoming dances begin to kickoff.
