Nutter Center COVID-19 drive-thru testing concludes after successful event

FAIRBORN — Nearly 500 drive-thru screenings were provided at the Wright State University Nutter Center today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., free of charge.

The Philippine-American Society of Greater Dayton, the Philippine Nurses Association of Ohio and the Asian American Council of Dayton, and other allied Asian groups around Dayton and Ohio are helping organize the testing site.

“We want to make sure our communities go for testing and if it is provided by an Asian organization through people that they know, through people who may look like them, speak the same language, we will be more successful,” said Cora Munoz, president of the Ohio Asian American Health Coalition.

Ed Stanek, the Public Relations Officer for the Phillipino Society of Greater Dayton told News Center 7, “What we found out from the lab people this is probably was the most successful event they’ve had in Ohio so far.”

“Everything today worked out just perfectly,” Stanek continued, “we hope to interact with the community again in the December time frame.”

Stanek told us that five to ten cars were coming through the line per minute during the event.

The testing took place in lot eight behind the Nutter Center. Organizers suggest vehicles enter the parking lot from Colonel Glenn Highway and North Fairfield Road, according to a press release.

A doctor’s note was not required, but if you planned to get tested a valid photo ID must be provided for record-keeping.
