TROTWOOD — UPDATE @ 4 p.m.:
Free Pike has reopened after a water main break caused it to be closed early Wednesday morning.
A spokesperson with Montgomery County Environmental Services said the roadway should be reopened before evening traffic.
Repairs have been completed and a boil advisory is not in effect.

INITIAL REPORT:
Crews are closing Free Pike to repair a water main that ruptured early Wednesday morning.
Montgomery County responded to the scene and closed Free Pike from Camelot Road to Denlinger Road at around 8 a.m., a spokesperson for the county called in.
The road will remain closed until the afternoon, the spokesperson stated.

There is currently no boil advisory, indicating that the tap water in residential areas is safe to drink.

Officials informed that the water main broke because of the large fluctuation in temperature. The 60 degrees in the afternoon dropping sharply overnight to approximately 20 degrees put heavy stress on the water main.
There were no injuries from the water main break.
