DAYTON — Ethan Kollie, the 24-year-old Kettering man accused of purchasing body armor, AR-15 parts and 100-round double drum magazine for the Oregon District shooter was ordered to remain behind bars.

Kollie was arrested Friday night in Beavercreek. Kollie had a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday, which was continued to 3:30 p.m. today.

Vipal Patel, U.S. Attorney, said Kollie will be detained pending trial.

One reason his office advocated that Kollie remain jailed is because of increased risk with him living with a family friend rather than family.

Kollie’s attorney Nicholas Gounaris said the defense team’s opinion differs from prosecutors on risk and whether the home detention option was appropriate.

“We’re obviously disappointed,” Gounaris said of the magistrate’s decision to not release his client.

Speaking on Kollie’s mood, Gounaris said: “He trusts in the process, other than that he is in as good of spirits as anybody in his situation.”
