OVI crash causes gas leak near Northwestern High School, briefly closes Troy Road

SPRINGFIELD — One person was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a pickup truck crashed into a gas line early this morning, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper on scene.

The trooper said that the truck was driving west when it went off the road and struck the line.

A crew from Columbia Gas responded to the scene and shut off the gas, but told our crew that although they could not comment on the repairs, the gas line did not go to the high school, so gas supply to the school is unaffected.

It is unknown how long it will take to repair the damaged line.

The scene has now been cleared and Troy Road has been reopened.
