Gas prices in the Miami Valley are closing in on $4 per gallon as the price for oil continues its rapid rise amid the war in Ukraine.

The price for regular gas at the Marathon at 1350 N. Belmont Ave. in Springfield was reported at $3.85 per gallon with many other stations throughout the Miami Valley selling gas for $3.79 per gallon, according to Gas Buddy.

The rising prices are projected to continue in the coming months, according to Patrick De Haan with Gas Buddy.

The Dayton-area average price for gas remains below the national average at $3.67, but that’s up about 40 cents per gallon from a month ago. The national average selling price for gas was reported at $3.73 per gallon Thursday afternoon.
The cheapest places to buy gas in the Miami Valley around 3:15 p.m. Thursday included Kroger in Springboro ($3.13), Sunoco in Huber Heights ($3.14) and Sunoco in Franklin ($3.13).
