PREBLE COUNTY — The people credited with saving a man’s life were recognized tonight in Preble County.

Five Good Samaritans pulled Mike Worley from his burning truck after a crash ten days ago.

Everyone that helped save Worley’s life shared a similar sentiment. It was almost fate that they all were in the right place at the right time.

“I’ll always remember the day, I’ll always remember breaking that glass, ripping the glass up. I mean I saved someone’s life, that’s not something everybody gets to say. I don’t feel like a hero by any means,” said Breyden Boston.

News Center 7′s James Rider talked with all five people honored at Eaton City Council Monday. They got proclamations from the mayor as well as recognition from Eaton police and the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.

“It’s an honor honestly,” Preston Orr said.

Larry Lewis he says he was on his way to work and usually doesn’t take U.S 122 to get there. He downplayed his role in the life saving efforts, instead pointing to the actions of brothers Boston and Orr. None of them consider themselves heroes.

“I feel like if anybody’s in that situation or see something like that happening you have to take action especially if there’s action to be taken,” Boston said.

“I just did what I had to do. Someone’s burning in a car so I just did what I did,” Orr said.

If anything, they credit their actions to their mother.

“My mom cares for everybody and has showed us to care for everybody,” Boston said.

Everyone still has some minor injuries they’re recovering from, and Boston is getting ready to go off to college in a few weeks, but they all said it’s a day they’ll never forget.
