“Well, it got my heart pumping, that’s very definite,” Andrew Price said.

Price said he signed up for the class because he wants to become an officer someday.

“This is a way to kind of help, you know, network, I guess, and kind of get my foot in the door to know what to expect and to just make more eager to keep that fire alive,” he said.

Participants partnered up and moved through the Dayton Police Academy hallway.

They cleared several rooms and encountered Dayton Police Sergeant Tommy Schloss, who was acting like a criminal.

Schloss said this training program helps the department be transparent with the community.

“It just gives them that chance to walk in our footsteps and see what we’re experiencing, what we’re feeling and that’s what we’re trying to do,” Schloss said.

Price said this would not be the last training he signed up for.

“It’s extremely cool. I love that the Dayton Police is doing this and I think this is a tool to kind of help with miscommunication, kind of nip it in the bud,” Prince said.
