A Greene County man who allegedly shot an Ohio wildlife officer has been arrested by federal ATF agents on an illegal gun possession charge.
Brian R. Liming, 44, of Jamestown, was charged by a federal grand jury April 14. His case was unsealed today, and he appeared in federal court Friday afternoon.
According to the indictment, on Dec. 20, 2020, Liming illegally possessed a loaded 20-gauge shotgun on the day an officer with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources was shot while investigating illegal deer hunting near Martinsville, Ohio.
Liming was previously convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, and possessing a firearm or ammunition after after such a conviction is a federal crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, according to a release from Acting U.S. Attorney Vipal J. Patel of the Southern District of Ohio.
Liming is currently out on bond on charges in the Clinton County Common Pleas Court, including felony assault and misdemeanor hunting charges related to the shooting.
Liming’s Clinton County charges are still pending.
