Greenon student killed in crash remembered by local band

BELLBROOK — The Bellbrook High School Marching Band and its staff will be wearing special ribbons during their performance Saturday during the Centerville Invitational in honor of a Greenon High School student killed in a crash earlier this month.

The ribbons will be red to represent Greenon’s school colors and have a butterfly on them representing the school’s 2017 marching band show, said Bellbrook band director Chris Foster.

“We are all one big band family,” Foster wrote in a Facebook post Saturday afternoon ahead of Bellbrook’s performance. “You are in our thoughts and prayers as all students and staff are wearing these”

Kendal “Kenny” DePhillip, a junior, died while a passenger in a car that crashed shortly before 4:30 p.m. Oct. 15 on Fowler Road between Rebert Pike and Broadway Road in Clark County.

DePhillip was a member of Greenon’s marching band.

The Greenon band thanked Bellbrook on Facebook for the gesture.
