Habitat for Humanity to build home for area Navy veteran

NEW CARLISLE — Habitat for Humanity has announced they will build a new home for the family of a Navy veteran in New Carlisle.

The organization said that Len and Alicia have been married for 17 years and have two kids.

Len served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Independence where he was exposed to Agent Orange — a toxic herbicide.

Because of this Len suffers from health issues and Alicia acts as his nurse.

The family lives in a two-bedroom house where their son Benjamin has slept on the couch for the last 7 years, according to a media release.

So, the family contacted Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton.

The family has also been attending nutrition and homebuyer classes.
