MASON — A year after cancelling because of COVID-19, Kings Island’s Halloween Haunt is returning and begins this weekend.
The annual Halloween Haunt is back and is it’s bigger and better than before. It’s celebrating its 14th year.
Kings Island Communications Director, Chat Showalter, said, “It’s been 699 days since the last time we have been able to have Halloween Haunt at Kings Island. That’s a really long time. We’ve been waiting forever but our crews have been working so hard to open the park this evening and we’re going to have a great time.”

Visitors who have come to the park in the past should expect a full transformation to the amusement park from what they remember in years past.
“When our guests walk through the gates, they are going to experience indoor and outdoor mazes, scare zones which are walked-through themed attractions. We have culinary offerings, hundreds of scare actors walking around scaring our guests and just having a lot of fun,” Showalter said.
Aside from all of the horrors and thrills, the park’s executive chef, James Major, is a two-time champion of the popular cooking competition “Chopped” and also competed on “Cutthroat Kitchen.”
Major has come up with a devilishly good new menu for Halloween Haunt.

“We came up with 23 new menu items from sweet to snacks to savory. We have our bread pudding and our apple and spiced cupcake,” Major said. “We have our piles of meat sandwiches which is a shaved smoked beef with the pepper relish on top.”
Kist about anyone can find something they are sure to love for this year’s special menu.
The park opens today and tomorrow, and it will be open until October 30 every Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available on the park’s website at www.visitkingsisland.com.
